SPRINKLER TANK REPAIR & FIBREGLASS LINING - SHEFFIELD
This 30 year old galvanised sprinkler tank was leaking badly. The tank was rusting from the inside out. The original factory coating system had broken down completely and the rust had taken over.
The only repair system that was going to restore this tanks integrity and make it watertight was the application of our guaranteed for 25 year fibreglass lining system.

Initially the only way into the tank was by accessing the roof and through the BVH (Ball Valve Housing) and then another ladder down into the tank and floor. This really wasn't a safe way of working, so we cut an opening into a lower wall panel and installed a safety access hatchway.
Fist things first...the surfaces had to be cleaned and keyed by abrasive grit blasting. This process exposed all the weaknesses in the steel wall of the tank and highlighted the areas for repair...lots of them.
After grit blasting, the surfaces were primed with polyester resin and all the holes, corroded areas and panel seams repaired and reconstructed using layers of fibreglass matting. Once all the repairs had cured, a double skin fibreglass lining was applied to the complete wall surface area, sealing onto the concrete floor all the way round the inside corner of the tank.
When the completed fibreglass lining had cured, a coloured polyester gel topcoat was applied to seal the whole system guaranteeing our works for 25 years.
A week after starting our works... we bolted up the new access manway and the client put the tank back into service.
