FIRE WATER TANK REPAIR - LONDON BASEMENT This Franklin Hodge 'Firestore' sprinkler water tank, in the basement of a central London office block was leaking from the bolted sectional panel joints The butyl 'bag' liner inside the tank had perished with age and was floating inside the tank, meaning the whole system would have been useless should there have been a demand on the tank for putting out a fire. The tank was being constantly topped up at the ball valve because of all the water leaking out of it. We safely accessed the tank and removed the butyl rubber liner. Cutting it into manageable pieces that we removed safely from the tank. We could have installed a new rubber bag liner, but our client wanted a watertight system that would last 'forever' and guarantee they didn't have the same problem again. We carried out preparartory sandblasting to the steel & concrete surfaces 150mm both sides of the panel joints. After priming we applied our watertight fibreglass lining system over the keyed areas to seal all the joints. This Franklin Hodge sprinkler cold water storage tank was back into service within the week.
